"After an extensive national search, I am pleased to announce that Richard Pierce, MBA, CMPE will be joining the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences as our new Chief of Finance and Administration (CFA)," said Dr. Reed Omary, Chair of the department.
"This position will help align the hospital and medical school sides of Vanderbilt Radiology. Rich will transition into this role with the help of Jim Patton, PhD, our current Vice Chair of Finance."
"Rich comes to us from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine where he has served as the Executive Administrator for the Department of Radiology since 2003. Additionally, he concurrently served as the Executive Administrator for the UAB Department of Emergency Medicine since 2011. Rich also serves as the current President of the Association of Administrators in Academic Radiology (AAARAD) and is on the board with the Academy of Radiology Leadership and Management (ARLM)."
"With a proven track record of success at UAB, Rich is excited to join Vanderbilt. He will bring his wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of department administration. On a personal level, Rich and his wife, Carol, welcome the opportunity to join their youngest of three daughters in Nashville. She is a graduate of Belmont and works with a Brentwood-based technology firm. Rich will dive into his new responsibilities at Vanderbilt on Tuesday, September 2, 2014."
