Best Doctors in America, an annual listing of the nation’s physicians who are peer selected for inclusion, is again acknowledging the expertise of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) faculty.
This year’s list of Tennessee hospitals, provided to VUMC by Best Doctors in America, includes eight of our radiologists:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center

John Jeffrey Carr, Radiology
Jeffrey L. Creasy, Radiology
Lori Ann Deitte, Radiology
Dominique Delbeke, Nuclear Medicine
William H. Martin, Nuclear Medicine
Steven G. Meranze, Radiology

A total of 369 physicians who practice at Vanderbilt University Hospital, The Vanderbilt Clinic, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks and numerous other offsite facilities.
VUMC has more physicians named to the Best Doctors in America list than any other Tennessee health system, and more than twice as many as any other health care provider located in Middle Tennessee.
The number of physicians included on this year’s list is acknowledgment of the talent, skill and dedication of the Medical Center’s faculty, said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs, senior associate dean for Clinical Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System.
“The large number of our faculty who are recognized each year by professional peers as those they would want caring for members of their families or themselves is reflective of the depth, talent and commitment of our people,” said Pinson. “I want to congratulate everyone named to this list and the rest of our faculty and staff who make significant contributions to our success each day. Our people, culture and teamwork are what make us great.”
The Best Doctors in America List, assembled by Best Doctors Inc. and audited and certified by Gallup, results from polling of more than 40,000 physicians in the United States. Doctors in more than 40 specialties and 400 subspecialties of medicine appear on this year’s list.
In a confidential review, current physician listees answer the question, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?” Best Doctors Inc. evaluates the review results and verifies all additional information to meet detailed inclusion criteria.
