Katherine Frederick-Dyer is an associate professor of abdominal imaging in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She completed her residency in radiology at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, and her fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Frederick-Dyer is certified as a Magnetic Resonance Medical Director/Physician (MRMD) by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety.

After spending 3 years in private practice, Dr. Frederick-Dyer decided to return to academics to contribute to medical education, cancer imaging research, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. She is a founding member of the recently formed Environmental Sustainability Working Group at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also serves as director of MRI for the body imaging section and participates in the Radiology Quality Improvement and MRI Safety Committees. In 2024, she was named Magnetic Resonance Medical Director. She is interested in solving sustainability issues at a radiology department and hospital system level in order that we may "do no harm" to future generations while providing high quality care to the current generation.
