Musculoskeletal Radiology
The Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology section is comprised of board-certified radiologists with particular interest in orthopaedic and emergency radiologic diagnosis, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
In addition to inpatient services at Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) and The Vanderbilt Clinic, we provide radiologic services for the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute and multiple area walk-in clinics. We are responsible for providing and coordinating radiologic services for the Emergency Department at VUH, a Level I Trauma Center, with a receiving area that includes Middle Tennessee, Northern Alabama and Southern Kentucky. Procedures performed by our section include joint-related procedures, image-guided biopsies and thermal ablation of benign or malignant neoplasms.
The research interests of our section include trauma radiology, tumors, arthritis and the radiographic evaluation of experimental orthopaedic devices, which often involve collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Division of Rheumatology at Vanderbilt.
Members of the section are actively involved in teaching programs at the medical student, resident and postgraduate levels. We participate in national and international meetings including those sponsored by the Department of Radiology and other professional societies.
