There is no charge for an office visit. However, charges may be incurred for procedures (e.g., colposcopies), vaccines, medications, and supplies. These are provided to students “at cost” (the price Student Health pays).
Acute Illnesses and Injuries
Student Health reserves a large number of appointments each day to accommodate unexpected illness and injuries. The healthcare providers at Student Health treat a large variety of health conditions including (but not limited to):
- Upper respiratory infections and influenza
- Mononucleosis
- Gastroenteritis (stomach virus)
- Skin diseases and infections
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Fatigue
- Allergies and Asthma
Routine Physical Exams
Student Health offers general physicals for routine healthcare (check-ups) including Pap smears. We also offer physicals as required for employment, clinical rotations, etc. We will also assist in completing any necessary forms.
Animal Care Physicals
Many student researchers need medical clearance and annual evaluations for their work with certain animals in the research setting. Please download the animal care physical and animal allergy forms and review the steps necessary to become compliant with this important requirement.
Chronic Disease Management
Student Health is able to take care of a wide variety of chronic health care problems including: asthma, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, and thyroid disorders. We encourage all students with chronic health issues to make an appointment with a Student Health physician or nurse practitioner to establish a primary care relationship.
Office Procedures
Student Health offers the following in-office procedures for a minimal fee:
- Liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy) for wart removal
- Suture removal
- Dressing changes
- Incision and drainage for abscess
- Colposcopies (see Sexual and Reproductive Health)
