Sarah Croessmann, PhD

Associate Director

Dr. Croessmann is Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine/Division of Hematology and Oncology with over 15 years of experience in translational research. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Studio Art from the University of Virginia and received her Ph.D. in Pathobiology from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her graduate and post-doctoral research focused on determining the effects of genetic variants on carcinogenesis and the development of therapeutic resistance, through which she developed extensive training in cancer genetics, molecular biology, and analysis of genomics datasets. More recently, Dr. Croessmann's research efforts have focused on several collaborations involving clinical data set analyses across several fields including genetics, cancer, and immunology. Additionally, she has provided manuscript and grant writing support for several researchers within the Department of Medicine. These efforts include story board development, data analysis, and scientific writing.  In her free time, Dr. Croessmann does contract work developing scientific illustrations and graphical abstracts, as well as custom digital art requests.
