Program Overview

The Vanderbilt Urology Nurse Practitioner Fellowship is a 12-month postgraduate program focused on adult urology.  The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be exposed to all areas of urology including outpatient clinics and procedures, inpatient services, and the operating room.  Mentorship and training are provided by both urologist and other advanced practice providers.

The NP fellow will be exposed to general urology and multiple subspecialties within urology including endourology, voiding dysfunction, pelvic floor reconstruction, men's health, urologic oncology, and neuro-urology.

Start date for each fellow is January 1st.  The first 8 months of this fellowship will be spent rotating through different subspecialties within the clinic, inpatient services, and operating rooms.  The last 4 months of the fellowship the NP fellow will have their own independent clinic, with mentored oversight to help foster autonomy, and spend time in our procedure clinic to learn specific in office urologic procedure such as cystoscopy.

Didactic components include required readings, weekly rounds, resident conference, tumor board, and attendance of a local and national conference.

Upon graduation the fellow will receive a certificate from the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program documenting successful completion of a postgraduate fellowship in urology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
