Urologic Research

Our faculty and fellows are pioneers in new treatments, technologies and strategies for improving the diagnosis and care of all urologic patients. Our research efforts lead the way in better understanding benign and cancerous urologic conditions, ensuring the best outcomes and boosting quality care.

Pediatric Urology Research

The Division of Pediatric Urology relies on charitable gifts to train physicians and provide innovative and compassionate care for the children who turn to us for care. Gifts large and small make a meaningful impact.

Global Health Initiatives

A key philanthropic mission of our department is establishing surgical training programs in developing countries. These programs are led by Joseph A. Smith Jr., MD, professor of Urologic Surgery, but are a department-wide effort.

Our surgeons, fellows and residents work with local doctors in more than a dozen African nations. Current efforts are focused on developing training programs in Malawi and Zambia as well as Liberia and continuing to provide surgical expertise in Eastern Congo.

Our Global Health Initiatives improve urologic care and expand our own education. When we work with doctors in other countries, we share technology and introduce the Vanderbilt name.

Education and Training

When you give to the Department of Urology, you help us continue providing and improving the best available training for residents and fellows. These doctors and researchers lead the future of urologic care across the country and will continue to train other doctors in urologic best practices.
