Robotic Surgery for Pelvic Reconstruction
Robotic-assisted surgery is used throughout VUMC urology as a minimally-invasive surgical approach. Robotic surgery allows the surgeon expert precision and dexterity, which is ideal for advanced reconstructive surgeries. With the small incisions, there is less pain and enhanced recovery time requiring less hospitalization as compared to traditional open surgical techniques. The RUPH faculty are experts in using robotic surgery to perform a full range of pelvic floor and complex urologic reconstructive surgeries including:
- Sacrocolpopexy with or without hysterectomy
- Bladder neck reconstruction
- Upper urinary tract reconstruction
- Vesicovaginal fistula repair
- Management of mesh complications
- Bladder diverticulectomy
- Gender-affirming surgery
