Phantom/Cadaver scans

Phantom (or human volunteers for MRI only) and/or cadaver scans that are not directly related to qualification for a clinical trial are NOT considered a function of the Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core, however our core will act as a intermediary between Vanderbilt researchers and the Department of Radiology for these services. NOTE: Phantom scans that are directly related to a clinical trial for study qualification purposes are a main Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core function, and are addressed during the application/submission and study review process.

Our core will accept phantom/cadaver scan requests from Vanderbilt researchers and forward requests on to the appropriate Radiology contact. The center number to be used for billing MUST be setup in iLab before work is performed. Radiology will then contact the requesting department to schedule requested scans. Upon completion of scans, billing for Radiology services will be processed by the Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core via CORES/iLab billing systems. All Radiology phantom/cadaver scan services will be charged in 15 minute increments.

Process:

-Researcher will email request form to: Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core at radiologysupportcore@vanderbilt.edu.

-Researcher ensures that center number to be used for billing is setup in iLab.

-Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core will forward the researcher's request on to appropriate Radiology manager.

-Radiology modality manager will contact the requesting department to arrange time slot(s) for completion of requested services.

-Radiology modality manager will deliver completed forms to the Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core.

-Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core will enter charges into CORES/iLab billing system on Radiology's behalf.
