The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is proud to announce that Andrew Evelsizer, MD, has stepped into the role of Associate Program Director for VUMC’s Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program.
Dr. Evelsizer succeeds Tammy Hoyt, MD, who served as Associate Program Director for the last five years. Dr. Hoyt has transitioned into a new leadership role in the Vanderbilt University Faculty Senate’s Executive Committee. “We are thrilled to welcome Andrew to the IR Residency leadership team,” says Ryan Muller, MD, Program Director for IR Residency. “We are confident he will bring enthusiasm and a fresh perspective as we advance our program into the future.”
Dr. Muller explains that junior residents frequently spend one-one-one time with Dr. Evelsizer in the emergency department reading room—and that he’s heard nothing short of glowing feedback about their experiences. Reza Imani-Shikhabadi, MD, MS, who also serves as Associate Program Director of IR Residency, shares Dr. Muller’s sentiments.
“In his new role as APD, Dr. Evelsizer will help foster the professional development of our IR residents, particularly during their initial crucial years of DR training,” Dr. Imani-Shikhabadi says. “He will help guide and grow our training program.”
VUMC Radiology is appreciative to Dr. Hoyt for her efforts and commitment to the residency program.
“We are deeply grateful for the many years of dedicated service Dr. Hoyt provided to the IR Residency leadership team and to our residents,” says Dr. Muller. “She has been instrumental in helping navigate this program from just a few transferred residents to one of the largest Integrated IR Residencies in the nation. We wish her the very best with her new leadership role.”
