Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Monroe Carroll Jr. Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS). Our department includes a wealth of dedicated diagnostic and interventional radiologists as well as imaging scientists to diagnose and treat the complex pathology of patients referred to VUMC from central Tennessee and several surrounding states.
Our deeply talented and growing team includes more than 140 faculty, 50 trainees and 500 staff, collaborating across clinical services within the institution, including the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Vanderbilt Transplant Center, Vanderbilt Neurosciences and other specialty areas within the enterprise. We have expanded our imaging footprint deeper into Tennessee, covering hospitals in Wilson County, Tullahoma and Bedford. Additional outpatient imaging centers are available around the greater Nashville area.
Our educational programs train residents and fellows across the spectrum of Adult and Pediatric Radiology as well as basic science and post-doctoral graduates. The cutting-edge care of our educational programs leads the region in interventional procedures, diagnostic modalities and theranostics. Our imaging scientists at VUIIS annually rank within the top 20 funded Radiology departments in the country.
We are proud to serve central Tennessee and the surrounding states that refer patients to our hospitals and are committed to elevating the research, clinical and educational practice of radiology.
