In an effort to improve the patient experience, the Department of Radiology recently launched a patient website on the Vanderbilt Health platform.
Designed with patient education in mind, the website contains information on the imaging services offered at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, provides instruction on how patients can prepare for their studies and describes what patients can expect during their visit.
“Building and deploying the Radiology patient-facing website is a huge step forward towards improving the patient experience,” said Rich Pierce, MBA, Chief of Finance and Administration, Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. “By helping patients better understand the steps ahead of them, we will improve their experience by lowering their anxiety, helping them better prepare for their exam and building expectations that we will match with our performance.”
The website was developed with support from several radiology faculty and staff as a result of ongoing feedback from patients, staff and members of the Patient Advisory Council about the lack of preparation materials available to patients.
“Our patients are facing challenges when they enter our doors and we can best serve them by partnering with them to facilitate understanding,” said Sarah Moore, Director, Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. “By preparing patients and setting expectations with the information contained on the website, the department will demonstrate respect for the people that trust us with their care.”
