Kelly von Beck Wins First Place for Poster Presentation at SRU Annual Meeting

A senior Vanderbilt University School of Medicine student took home first place for her poster presentation at this year’s annual Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound conference in Phoenix.

Kelly von Beck placed first in the educational category of the member-in-training poster competition at SRU 2022. The project, titled “Wash Away Your Troubles With Bubbles: Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound-Guided Procedures,” was presented in-person at the conference by von Beck.

"It feels good to be recognized for my work," says von Beck. "But I’m especially thankful to my mentors who have continued to support me in pursuing my interests!”

Several VUMC Radiology faculty advised von Beck on the project. Virginia Planz, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Mariam Moshiri, MD, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Vice Chair of Faculty Recruitment and Development and Arthur Fleischer, MD, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair, and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, all mentored von Beck and were listed as co-authors.

In her time spent at VUSM, von Beck has showed an interest in interventional radiology as well as advanced ultrasound techniques. She has established a strong relationship with her mentors, as well as Katie Davis, DO, and Dan Brown, MD, and a variety of other clinicians.
