The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is proud to name Christine Dove, MD, as the new Section Chief of Women's Imaging. Dr. Dove brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, transitioning into the position as Glynis Sacks, MBbCh, steps down after many years dedicated to building, growing and running the Center for Women’s Imaging (CWI).
“Dr. Christine Dove has been an integral part of the success of CWI,” says Dr. Sacks. “Her active involvement as a fellow, attending and medical director make her perfectly qualified to take over as section chief."
Dr. Dove joined as faculty in 2008 following her diagnostic radiology residency and fellowship in Women’s Imaging, both at VUMC. In 2019, she was promoted to Associate Professor and in 2022 was named the Director of Fellowship Programs for the department. Currently, she also serves as the Program Director for the Breast Imaging Fellowship and as Medical Director of the Center for Women’s Imaging.
“Dr. Sacks has done an amazing job building CWI from the ground up and creating the flagship program that it is today,” says Dr. Dove. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this section and hope that I can maintain the excellent precedent that she has set.”
The Center for Women’s Imaging opened in 2013 with the goal to provide easy access to a state-of-the-art facility with the ability to provide real-time reporting. Today, it has expanded to include locations at Crystal Terrace and One Hundred Oaks and performs more than 33,000 exams annually. Radiology residents, medical students, sonographers and sonography students also participate in on-site education and training at CWI.
One of the first dedicated sonologists in the Nashville area, Dr. Sacks served as the Section Chief of Women's Imaging and was an integral part of the creation and success of CWI. She will remain as a faculty member with VUMC Radiology in our Women’s Imaging section.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Dove on this new leadership role and in expressing our gratitude to Dr. Sacks for her years of service and dedication to women's health. Dr. Dove will officially start this new role on April 1, 2024.
