The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is excited to announce that Associate Professor Melissa Hilmes, MD, has been named the Director of Medical Student Education.
Dr. Hilmes joined VUMC in 2007, and has since been involved with medical student education at multiple levels. She served as the co-director of the Vanderbilt Program in Interprofessional Learning (VPIL) and as a portfolio coach. She is the current course director for the ACE in Pediatric Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology courses for medical students in the 3rd and 4th years.
In 2023, Dr. Hilmes received a VUSM Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Small Group Setting. She has been a member of the Academy of Excellence in Education since 2020.
