Arthur Fleischer, M.D., Professor of Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Medical Director of Ultrasound Imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), published his eighth edition of “Fleischer’s Sonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology: Textbook and Teaching Cases” this month.
The textbook, named in honor of Dr. Fleischer by his co-editors and McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., contains the latest information on a variety of topics, including ovarian cancer detection, pelvic floor disorders and fetal anomaly screening. It is organized into six major sections – General Obstetric Sonography; Fetal Anomalies and Disorders; Risk Assessment and Therapy; Maternal Conditions; Gynecologic Sonography; and Complementary Imaging – and features 50 chapters with more than 2,000 figures and tables.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to write and edit with the help of my colleagues, both national and international, an up-to-date, comprehensive textbook covering the applications of sonography in obstetrics and gynecology,” said Dr. Fleischer. “It’s intended to provide didactic and practical clinical tips for the trainee and practitioner.”
More than 40 international authors and seven co-editors, including staff and trainees in VUMC’s Departments of Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology, helped write and edit the book’s contents over a four-year period.
Additional teaching cases and videos that reinforce the principles included in the textbook are available online here, via McGraw-Hill.
