VUMC Radiology is excited to welcome back Jackiel Mayo, MD, to our department as an Assistant Professor with our Abdominal Imaging section!
Dr. Mayo received his medical degree from the University of Cape Town and practiced as a radiologist for many years in South Africa before coming to Vanderbilt in 1994. He completed additional training at VUMC and joined as radiology faculty in 1996.
During his time as faculty at VUMC, Dr. Mayo served in various leadership capacities, including as the Director of Outpatient Radiology and as the Director of Vanderbilt Hillsboro Outpatient Imaging, where he helped to grow the outpatient center, allowing it to offer a full array of radiology services outside of our main campus.
A recipient of the Senior Resident Model Radiologist award, Dr. Mayo is held in high regard by former colleagues and trainees alike. His extensive experience in both private and academic medicine, as well as knowledge across various imaging modalities, makes him an ideal mentor and trainer for our radiologists in training.
Dr. Mayo has long been a great asset to our department and we are pleased he has decided to join our team once again.
