Jennifer Williams Named Assistant Medical Director of Vanderbilt Imaging Services

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is happy to share that Jennifer Williams, MD, Associate Professor and Section Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging, has been named the Assistant Medical Director of Vanderbilt Imaging Services (VIS).

VIS facilities provide outpatient imaging services at various locations in Nashville, TN (Hillsboro, Midtown, One Hundred Oaks) and Franklin, TN (Cool Springs). In her new role, Dr. Williams will work alongside Morgan Anderson, MD, Associate Professor and Medical Director of VIS.

“I am honored and excited to work with Dr. Anderson as well as the VIS team,” Dr. Williams says. “Vanderbilt’s outpatient imaging is a vital part of the radiology department, and Dr. Anderson has been an integral part of making that happen. I hope to provide additional support, knowledge, and leadership as we expand VIS and continue to provide excellent care for our patients.”

Laura Beth Brown, RN, MSN, Senior Vice President for Vanderbilt Health Services, says this role is perfect for Dr. Williams, given her dedication to quality improvement. She foresees the greatest impact in complex care situations, where practical knowledge and intentionality will help patients most.

"She has already contributed fresh ideas around workflow and optimizing scope of practice for our clinicians and staff," Brown says. "The depth and addition of this role—and working with Medical Director Morgan Anderson, MD—advances us strategically and clinically. We are very appreciative to have them both."

"Dr. Williams brings an energy and can-do attitude that is welcomed to VIS,” Dr. Anderson says. “We eagerly anticipate the impact she will have on the quality of care patients receive through her leadership. Additionally, she will be a huge help with the opening of the new Bellevue imaging center this coming spring.”

“Dr. Williams has been instrumental in reconfiguring our department in the last 15 months,” says Daniel Brown, MD, FSIR, Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor and Chair of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. “I am excited to see her in this role as we continue to grow our practice.”
