Department Announces Vice Chair of Innovation and Clinical Research

Today, the Department of Radiology announces Daniel Brown, M.D., FSIR, Professor of Radiology and Chief of Interventional Oncology, as its Vice Chair of Innovation and Clinical Research.  In this newly created role, Brown will be responsible for helping faculty and trainees engage in clinical research at Vanderbilt. This will also include establishing academic partnerships with programs internal and external to Vanderbilt, including interacting with industry on clinical trials. 

RadX Innovation Challenge Pitch Evolves into Global Health Nonprofit

With support from the Department of Radiology’s innovation incubator, RadX, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) alumni Benjamin Li, M.D., MBA, recently launched Rayos Contra Cancer, Inc. (RCC). A global health nonprofit 501(c3) organization, RCC’s mission is to “promote sustainable access to high-quality, timely and affordable radiotherapy for cancer in limited-resource settings globally.”

Radiology Faculty Awarded 2019 Gold Merit Abstract Award

A study entitled “Education Level Drives Appropriate Follow-up of Incidental Findings from Lung Cancer” was recently awarded a 2019 Gold Merit Abstract Award in the Safety and Quality category by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Planz Named Director of Grand Rounds

Virginia Planz, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology, has recently been named Director of Grand Rounds. She succeeds Jeff Creasy, M.D., Professor of Radiology and Neuroradiology Section Chief, in her new role effective July 1, 2019.
