Annual Lead Shielding Inspections Scheduling Deadline is Fri, Jan. 15

Vanderbilt’s Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences will provide courtesy annual lead shielding inspections every Thursday from mid-January to mid-May from 3:30 to approximately 9 p.m. The Tennessee Department of Health and Environment, Radiological Health Division, requires inspection of personal protective lead shielding. VUMC requires lead shielding be inspected visually and fluoroscopically annually.

Vanderbilt Radiology was well-represented this weekend at Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee! In a state where over 1 million people are at risk of hunger every day, Second Harvest collects almost 15 million tons of food annually from retailers, manufacturers, producers, growers, and donors. With the help of volunteers, this food is inspected, sorted, and packaged so it can be delivered to nearly 500 partner agencies over 46 counties in Middle Tennessee who help get this food to hungry children, families, and seniors.

Starting Up in Nashville: What Music City Offers Entrepreneurs

We were just finishing up an interview over lunch at Husk in downtown Nashville. The restaurant is a fine Southern restaurant with elegant pimento cheese, good-looking waiters, eggplant accent walls and James Beard award-winning Chef Sean Brock. I was interviewing Mike Butera, the founder of Artiphon, an all-in-one instrument device, designed to inspire casual musical creativity and exploration.

VU Radiology participates in 101st Radiological Society of North America's Scientific Annual Meeting

Vanderbilt is pleased to participate in the Radiological Society of North America's 101st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting during November 29 – December 4th at Chicago's McCormick Place. The annual RSNA meeting is the most highly attended radiology meeting in North America with last year’s (RSNA 2014) official registration reported at greater than 56,000 total attendance, including greater than 28,000 professional attendees.
