The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is excited to announce that Virginia Planz, MD, will be the new Section Chief of Body Imaging, effective immediately. Dr. Planz has previously served as the Director of Interventional CT and Ultrasound and worked as the Associate Section Chief with Chris Jones, MD.
"I'm truly honored and very excited to have the opportunity to lead this talented group of dedicated body imaging experts," Dr. Planz says. "Our section provides invaluable subspecialized services for our adult Vanderbilt patients that are critical to patient care, including the interpretation of complex MRI, CT and ultrasound in oncologic, organ transplant, level one trauma, and critical care patients."
She continues: "As our imaging enterprise grows, I plan to continue the mission of providing outstanding and high-quality diagnostic radiology services, ongoing contributions to research, and a top-tier academic experience for our trainees. I am grateful to Dr. Chris Jones for his leadership and his many impactful contributions during his time as section chief."
Dr. Jones has admirably led the section during a time of significant growth. Reed Omary, MD, MS, Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor and Chair, is excited by the accomplishments of the Body Imaging team and looks forward to the section’s next chapter.
