Lucy Spalluto Publishes Health Equity Piece in AJR

VUMC Radiology's Lucy Spalluto, MD, MPH, Associate Professor, Vice Chair of Health Equity, and Associate Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, was recently published in the American Journal of Roentgenology for her work with an article focused on providing radiologists with a "toolkit" of health equity strategies. 

Mary Ellen Koran Invited to CECI2 Level 2 Program

The Council of Early Career Investigators in Imaging (CECI2) have chosen Mary Ellen Koran, MD, PhD, for the 2022-2023 CECI2 Level 2 Program. The program, which has different levels of participation, was established by the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research in 2014. It offers newer researchers the chance to learn about funding, advocacy, career development, and other various research opportunities.

Cam Henry Wins Resident & Fellow Grant

Congratulations to PGY 5 Resident Cam Henry, MD, for being awarded the Panacea Financial Foundation Resident & Fellow Grant! Dr. Henry was one of 14 residents and fellows chosen for this nationwide award. According to Panacea Financial, these grants go to underrepresented residents and fellows to help further their post-graduate education.

Joanna Shechtel Featured on 'Zone 3 Podcast'

VUMC's own Joanna Shechtel, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences, was recently invited the join the Zone 3 Podcast, which focuses on the world of radiology and MRI.  Dr. Shechtel spoke with hosts Robert and Reggie about sarcoma imaging, her time in the medical field, and MRI safety. Dr. Shechtel came prepared with a variety of helpful visual aids.  

Meaghan Dendy Case to Join VUMC Radiology as Assistant Professor

VUMC Radiology is happy to announce that Meaghan Dendy Case, MD, MA, will be joining as an Assistant Professor starting in September 2023. She will join our Interventional Radiology section, and will also spend time working with Body Imaging. Dr. Dendy Case joins us from Yale School of Medicine, where she is completing a residency in diagnostic and interventional radiology. Currently, she is the Chief Resident of Interventional Radiology. Prior to her residency, Dr. Dendy Case completed an internship in general surgery at the UConn School of Medicine.
