Savoie to Lead Radiology Informatics

Today, the Department of Radiology announced that Brent Savoie, MD, JD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Cardiothoracic Imaging Section Chief, will succeed Jeff Carr, MD, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, as Vice Chair of Informatics, effective January 2020. 

Radiology Faculty Awarded $3.6 Million NIBIB Grant

Faculty in the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) have been awarded a $3.6 million grant by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering for their project, “Development of an MRgFUS system for precision-targeted neuromodulation of pain circuits with simultaneous functional MRI.” Principal investigators (PIs) on the project include Charles Caskey, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology; 

Moon Appointed Secondary Faculty in Radiology

Caitlin “Cat” Moon, M.A., J.D., Lecturer in Law, Vanderbilt University, has been appointed secondary faculty in the Department of Radiology. She currently serves as Director of Innovation Design at the PoLI Institute, Vanderbilt University’s Program on Law and Innovation. 

Jordan Receives Secondary Appointment in Radiology

Lori C. Jordan, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), has received a secondary appointment in the Department of Radiology. She currently serves as Director of the Pediatric Stroke Program and Associate Director of the Child Neurology Residency Program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. 

Department of Radiology Recognizes New Residents at 6th Annual Lead Ceremony

The Department of Radiology last week recognized 11 new diagnostic (DR) and interventional radiology (IR) residents at its 6th Annual Thomas A. Powers Lead Ceremony. A department tradition since 2013, the Lead Ceremony – much like a medical school’s White Coat Ceremony – serves as the trainees’ formal induction into their training program, the Vanderbilt Radiology Society (VRS) and a global community of radiologists.
