Today, faculty in the Department of Radiology received 2019 Distinguished Investigator Awards from the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research. Daniel Gochberg, PhD, Professor of Radiology, and Wellington Pham, PhD, Associate Professor, were among 37 researchers inducted into the Academy’s Council of Distinguished Investigators at Radiological Society of North Ameri

Kristin O’Grady, PhD, Research Instructor in Radiology, and second-year diagnostic radiology resident (DR) Hazel Asumu, MD, have been selected to participate in Introduction to Academic Radiology programs at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) Annual Meeting this week in Chicago.   

Vanderbilt University Medical Center Assistant Professor of Radiology Kim Sandler, MD, and Vanderbilt University Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science Bennett Landman, PhD, were recently awarded the Martineau Innovation Fund Grant by the Vanderbilt Thoracic Working Group for their project, “Utilization of Machine Learning to Predict Incidence Lung Cancer in a Screening Population.” 

Today, the Department of Radiology announced that Brent Savoie, MD, JD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Cardiothoracic Imaging Section Chief, will succeed Jeff Carr, MD, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, as Vice Chair of Informatics, effective January 2020. 

Faculty in the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) have been awarded a $3.6 million grant by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering for their project, “Development of an MRgFUS system for precision-targeted neuromodulation of pain circuits with simultaneous functional MRI.” Principal investigators (PIs) on the project include Charles Caskey, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology;
