Fischer Appointed Secondary Faculty in Radiology

Edward (Ted) Fischer, Ph.D., Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Anthropology, has been appointed secondary faculty in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. He also serves as Professor of Medicine, Health and Society, Professor of Management and Director for the Center for Latin American Studies. 

Schulman Receives Top Honor from Society for Pediatric Radiology

Marta Hernanz-Schulman, M.D., Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences and Pediatrics, has received the 2019 Gold Medal from the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR) for her career-long contributions to the care of children through pediatric imaging services. The award is the society’s most distinguished honor and is given annually based on contributions to the SPR and to the welfare of pediatric patients.

Omary Named Co-recipient of Geoffrey David Chazen Award for Faculty

Radiology Professor and Chair Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., was named co-recipient of the Geoffrey David Chazen Award by the Vanderbilt Academy for Excellence in Education this week. He shares the award with colleague Matthew Walker, III, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Practice of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology, for their contributions to the design and implementation of innovation in medical education at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Department Announces Leadership Changes for Body Imaging Section

The Department of Radiology today announces leadership changes within the Body Imaging section. Geoffrey Wile, M.D., Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology, has been named Director of Interventional Computed Tomography and Ultrasound. Christopher Jones, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology, will take over as Body Imaging’s Section Chief.
