The Department of Radiology’s Diagnostic (DR) and Interventional Radiology (IR) residency program directors Drs. Ed Donnelly and Peter Bream are happy to announce that the programs have filled for the 2017 National Resident Match Program Match.
The department matched a total of 10 residents – seven for DR and three for IR – from medical schools including Temple, Northwestern and Vanderbilt universities. One of the future DR residents will join the program this July while all others will begin July 2018.
“We had another outstanding Match this year,” said Dr. Donnelly. “It’s going to be hard to wait over a year to have these excellent young physicians join our program.”
This year also completed the second successful match for the IR Residency Program. Students matching into IR will join Vanderbilt as the third class of IR residents.
“This year’s Interventional Radiology Residency match went as well as it possibly could,” said Dr. Bream. “We reviewed more than 350 applications, invited 35 candidates to interview and matched three that were at the top of our list. We are so excited to have the opportunity to train them!”
