Mary C. Frates, MD, FACR, FSRU is Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Ultrasound at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. She is also Vice Chair of Academic Advancement for the Radiology Department. A member of the Ultrasound division since 1991, she joined the award-winning Thyroid Nodule Clinic staff in 1996. Dr. Frates is a co-author of the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging, Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS)as well as the ACR Thyroid UltrasoundReportingLexicon. She was the Chairperson and first author for the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound Consensus Conference on the Management of Thyroid Nodules in 2004. Much of her research focuses the role of ultrasound in thyroid disease. She is the president elect of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.
