Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe and compare the physiologic bio-distribution of 68Ga- and 18F-labeled PSMA radiopharmaceuticals.
  2. Explain the common patterns of localized primary, regional nodal, and distant metastatic prostate cancer.
  3. Review the common and relatively uncommon pitfalls with PSMA-targeted PET imaging and discuss techniques that can help avoid these pitfalls.
  4. Discuss the applications of targeting PSMA in the context of theranostics.

Dr. Ashwin Singh Parihar is an Instructor at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO. He trained as a Nuclear Medicine physician from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India followed by a research fellowship at MIR. His research areas include the oncologic applications of PET/CT and nuclear medicine theranostics. He has over 60 peer-reviewed publications and has received several grants and awards, including the most recent SNMMI Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Research Fellowship. He presently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Clinical Nuclear Medicine.
