This grand rounds lecture is designed for faculty, residents, staff and medical students.

Learning objectives of this presentation include:

  • Review the origins and evolution of storytelling
  • Examine research on storytelling and its effects on the human brain
  • Identify opportunities for radiologists to harness the power of storytelling in advancing education, patient care and mentorship

Aparna Joshi, MD, is a pediatric radiologist at University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. After earning her B.S. and M.D. degrees through Northwestern University’s Honors Program in Medical Education, Dr. Joshi completed her diagnostic radiology residency and pediatric radiology fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her interests include imaging of pediatric congenital heart disease, patient safety and quality assurance, and diversity, equity and inclusion in radiology. Dr. Joshi serves as a deputy editor for Academic Radiology and organizes her division’s peer learning activities. She is a proud mother of three and enjoys reading historical fiction, cycling and hiking.
