A new imaging program aimed at providing ultrasound imaging to underserved and uninsured individuals has launched, giving more opportunities for patient care and hands-on medical education. The Shade Tree Clinic, Vanderbilt’s student-run clinic that provides free healthcare to patients in Nashville, opened their Diagnostic Ultrasound Clinic in early January. In a new article posted on Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine website, students explained how the clinic is stepping up to meet the needs of patients.

A VUMC Radiology faculty member and VUIIS leader has been highlighted for his accomplishments in the field of MRI. Seth Smith, PhD, Associate Director of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) and Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, was recently featured in the Vanderbilt publication, Discoveries in Medicine.

VUMC Radiology is proud to share the accomplishments of our team at the 5th annual American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology Scientific Meeting in New Orleans this past week. Our doctors won awards, gave lectures, and even came equipped with some awe-inspiring trophies!

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is pleased to announce that Rachel Runde, MD, will join as an Assistant Professor in April 2023. Dr. Runde will join our Community Radiology and Body Imaging sections. 

VUMC Radiology is pleased to welcome Jessica Leschied, MB BCh BAO, FRCPC, FAAP, as an Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Leschied will be a member of our Pediatric Radiology section, as well as providing assistance to our Musculoskeletal Radiology section. Dr. Leschied joins us from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where she served as Senior Staff Radiologist since 2019. Previously, she's held faculty appointments at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan Medical School.
