VUMC Radiology is proud to share that Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences and Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Wellington Pham, PhD, has been named as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). “I am so honored and humbled to be elected as a Fellow of AAAS,” Dr. Pham said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with my colleagues to fulfill AAAS’ mission and to work for the advancement of science and technology.”

VUMC Radiology resident Cam Henry, MD, has been chosen for the 2023 ACR-AUR Research Scholar Program during the annual AUR meeting in April. Dr. Henry was one of 14 candidates chosen to participate in the program, which seeks to bring together residents and fellows who have a background and interest in scientific research, health services and health policy research with seasoned academic radiologists. It’s a full day program held during the annual conference and offers candidates health policy research curriculum, scholar presentations and focused mentoring sessions.

A new imaging program aimed at providing ultrasound imaging to underserved and uninsured individuals has launched, giving more opportunities for patient care and hands-on medical education. The Shade Tree Clinic, Vanderbilt’s student-run clinic that provides free healthcare to patients in Nashville, opened their Diagnostic Ultrasound Clinic in early January. In a new article posted on Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine website, students explained how the clinic is stepping up to meet the needs of patients.

A VUMC Radiology faculty member and VUIIS leader has been highlighted for his accomplishments in the field of MRI. Seth Smith, PhD, Associate Director of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) and Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, was recently featured in the Vanderbilt publication, Discoveries in Medicine.
