Morgan named to NIH Neuroimaging Study Section

Victoria Morgan, Ph.D., associate professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been named to serve as a member of the Neuroscience and Ophthalmic Imaging Technologies Study Section in the Center for the Scientific Review (CSR) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She will serve a four-year term. Morgan, also an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has participated in extensive research about the pre-surgical application of functional MRI in Epilepsy.

Fleischer Honored by American Board of Radiology

Arthur C. Fleischer, M.D., Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, is the recipient of a Lifetime Service Award from the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is the official organization designated by the American Board of Medical Specialties to administer board certification exams for radiologists. Fleischer received this award after more than 15 years of continuous service to the ABR and as an acknowledgment for “time and dedication so generously given.”

Vanderbilt Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core launched

Vanderbilt’s Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences has launched the Vanderbilt Clinical Trials Radiology Support Core. The core will provide broad administrative support services for imaging performed within Vanderbilt clinical trials. It has been developed in close collaboration with the Office of Research and the Clinical Trials Billing Compliance office.

Damon to lead Chemical and Physical Biology grad program

Bruce Damon, Ph.D., has been named director of Vanderbilt University’s Chemical and Physical Biology (CPB) graduate program, which prepares students for “cutting-edge” research careers at the interface of the chemical sciences, physical sciences and biology. Damon, associate professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, succeeds Hassane Mchaourab, Ph.D., who founded the program with Albert Beth, Ph.D., in 2007.

Creasy Named Section Chief of Neuroradiology

The Vanderbilt University Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is pleased to announce that Jeff L. Creasy, MD, has been named Section Chief of Neuroradiology, effective August 1, 2015.
