VUMC Radiology would like to thank Richard Pierce, MBA, CMPE for his service to the department and congratulate him on his retirement. At a party Wednesday, the accomplished Chief of Finance and Administration (CFA) fought back tears while reflecting on his career. After thanking his family and colleagues, Mr. Pierce celebrated his reputation for "dad jokes" and reaffirmed his affinity for both Pi Day and Groundhog Day. As he enters a new chapter of his life, Rich turned to one of his favorite musicians—James Taylor—to help find the right words.

Asha Sarma Named Deputy Director of Medical Student Education
Asha Sarma, MD has been named the Deputy Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Radiology. Dr. Sarma will be working closely with current Director of Medical Student Education, Katie Davis, DO.
Department Names Davis Chief of Breast Imaging Section
The Department of Radiology recently named Katie M. Davis, DO, Assistant Professor of Radiology, Section Chief of Breast Imaging, a position she has held in an interim capacity since 2021.
Department of Radiology Appoints Cooke Director of Arts
The Department of Radiology recently appointed Erin Cooke, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology and professional studio artist, as Director of Arts. The first position of its kind in the department, the Director of Arts will aim to illustrate the connection between radiology and the arts; develop novel means for integrating art in the department; and engage other physician-artists in a multi-institutional collaboration between the arts and medicine as a whole.
