Toma Omofoye, MD, is an Associate Professor and Strategic Director of Education in the Department of Breast Imaging at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a 2022 recipient of the RSNA Helen C. Redman and Martin Klop Scholar Grant for her work developing a customized breast imaging curriculum for radiologists practicing in low to middle income countries.
Dr. Omofoye completed medical training at Duke University where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She underwent her Diagnostic Radiology training and Chief Residency at Duke University Medical Center. She joined MD Anderson Cancer Center for Breast Imaging Fellowship and, upon its completion, became a member of the MD Anderson faculty.
She has a passion for global radiology education and mentorship. She has participated in radiology education initiatives in Singapore, Ukraine, Ghana, Bangladesh, Egypt, Angola, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Nigeria. Along with local and international collaborators, she created an online breast imaging curriculum for residents in International Residency programs.
Dr. Omofoye has a long record of national service including volunteering as a member of the American Board of Radiology, Society of Breast Imaging and American Roentgen Ray Society. She has been selected as faculty for the RSNA Global Learning Team tasked with creating the first Women’s Imaging fellowship program at the Global Learning Center in Tanzania.
Dr. Omofoye has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in Radiology. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including recognition from the Houston Health Museum, Faculty Educator of the Quarter, Outstanding Lecturer Awards, Outstanding Alumni of University of West Georgia, Commendation from the Georgia State Senate Assembly, and the President’s Recognition of Faculty Excellence in Education and Mentorship. In 2021, Dr Omofoye was named SemiFinalist “Most Influential Radiology Researcher” in Best of Radiology Awards.
In addition to research in breast imaging education and global health, she is passionate about mentorship, diversity, and patient experience. She is an avid reader, traveler, person of faith, and is married with three children.
