Security Alert for OpenSSL Heartbleed Vulnerability

Oracle released Security Alert CVE-2014-0160 for the OpenSSL Heartbleed vulnerability on April 18, 2014.  This Security Alert addresses a vulnerability which affects multiple OpenSSL versions implemented by multiple vendors in multiple products. Windows Server 2012 R2 Update

Microsoft released Windows Server 2012 R2 Update on April 2.  The Update is free through Windows Update. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn645472.aspx for product information. Vanderbilt departments can order Windows Server 2012 R2 Update through the Software Store by placing an order under the Departments/Microsoft tab.

Windows 8.1 Update

Software Store Maintenance Scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, from 6-8 a.m.

Kivuto, the company that hosts the Vanderbilt Software Store, is upgrading ELMS (the storefront platform) on March 26, 2014 beginning at 6:00 AM.  Kivuto expects to complete the maintenance within 2 hours.  During this time, Kivuto will place the store in “maintenance mode” and will display a message indicating the store is temporarily unavailable to customers. During the maintenance period, Vanderbilt departments, faculty, staff and students cannot log into the Software Store.

New Microsoft Remote Desktop app for iOS, Mac OS X, Android

During fall 2013, Microsoft introduced Remote Desktop clients for iOS and Android, and updated Remote Desktop for Mac OS X.  Microsoft is expected to eventually offer Remote Desktop for Windows Phone.  Remote Desktop lets users connect to remote Windows PCs.
