The Department of Radiology recently concluded its winter clothing drive benefiting Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) patients, and those supported by the Homeless Health Services Program.  Nearly 180 new and gently used items, including heavy coats, gloves and scarves, were collected, and delivered to the VUMC Clothes Closet for distribution through VUMC Guest Services and social workers. Filip Banovac, M.D., FSIR, Associate Professor of Radiology and Interventional Radiology (IR) Section Chief, has been appointed Treasurer of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). He will serve a three-year term in that role for both the SIR and the SIR Foundation.

Last month, faculty and trainees from the Department of Radiology attended the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2018 Annual Meeting where they presented scientific papers and educational exhibits, and participated in a variety of educational courses. 

Alexis Paulson, MSN, APRN, WHNP-BC, TTS, Associate in Radiology and Clinical Coordinator of the Vanderbilt Lung Screening Program, recently delivered a breakout session on lung screening at the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) 21st Annual Premier Women's Healthcare Conference in San Antonio, Texas. 

Lucy Spalluto, M.D., Assistant Professor of Radiology, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) oncology colleague Jennifer Lewis, M.D., M.S., Instructor in Medicine, have been selected to co-lead the Veterans Affairs – Partnership to increase Access to Lung Screening (VA-PALS) National Program Evaluation.
