Dr. Modic joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2018 as Senior Vice President Population Health and Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Modic is working with the Population Health team integrating clinical activities and in establishing and enabling evidence based clinical standards across diverse network based ambulatory and inpatient settings.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Dr. Modic practiced for more than 35 years in Cleveland, Ohio. He primarily at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as Chairman of the Division of Radiology (1989-2006), Chairman of the Neurological Institute (2006-2015), and as Chief Clinical Transformation Officer through December of 2017. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Board of Directors of the Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a recipient of the Gold Medal of the Society of Magnetic Resonance in Imaging.

Dr. Modic earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine in 1975. He completed a Diagnostic Radiology Residency and Neuroradiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Modic’s clinical practice and research interests have been focused on Neuro Imaging with a special interest in degenerative disease of the spine and its natural history. He is a member of the Neuroradiology section within the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences.

Steven Meranze, MD, is a specialist in vascular and interventional radiology. He earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Radiology and a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he then served on the faculty with a strong emphasis in gastrointestinal interventions. He joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1992. He is currently the vice chair of Faculty Affairs, associate dean for Faculty Affairs and chair of the VUH credentials committee. His current clinical and research interests focus on the treatment of primary and metastatic liver malignancies through either percutaneous or endovascular regional therapies.

Kevin T. McManus, MD, earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and completed a residency in Radiology at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, where he served as chief resident. He completed a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship in Breast Imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. McManus joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1999. After serving as chief of Breast Imaging for seven years, Dr. McManus currently serves as the Director of Interventional Breast Imaging. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Breast Imaging and the Tennessee Radiological Society.

J. Oliver McIntyre, PhD, is a graduate of Cambridge University (Cambridge, England), earning a BA and MA in Biochemistry. He earned a PhD in Molecular Biology and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Biophysics at Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining the Vanderbilt Radiology faculty in 2012 as Research Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Dr. McIntyre served on the Vanderbilt faculty for the Departments of Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences and Cancer Biology for 32 years. His research is focused primarily on preclinical studies of cancer and the tumor microenvironment using novel approaches with translational potential to address clinical challenges including: the early detection of cancer, the delivery of targeted therapy, monitoring anti-tumor drug efficacy and treating metastatic disease.

Dann Martin, MD, is an honors graduate of Johns Hopkins University and earned his medical degree from Tufts University. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center and a fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at Stanford University Hospital. Dr. Martin joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2020 as an Assistant Professor.

Yu Luo, MD, PhD, earned an MS in Cardiovascular Pharmacology from China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing, China and a PhD in Pharmacology from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Before earning his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, he worked as a Scientist at Pharmacyclics in Sunnyvale, CA, focusing on pre-clinical research in cancer and cardiovascular drug development. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Wayne State University and fellowships in Pediatric Radiology and Pediatric Musculoskeletal Radiology at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. In 2012, he joined the Vanderbilt faculty as Assistant Professor and Chief of Pediatric Musculoskeletal Imaging. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019.

Muwei Li, PhD, earned his PhD from the Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, with joint training at The Johns Hopkins University. He completed post-doctorate fellowships at Sichuan University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center before joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 2018 as Research Instructor in Radiology & Radiological Sciences. His research focuses on diffusion tensor image analysis, functional MRI analysis and pattern recognition of anatomical features.

Ken Lewis, PhD, is a board certified (DABR) Diagnostic & Nuclear Medical Physicist, a board certified (CHP) Health Physicist, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. As a Medical Physicist, his focus is on clinical image quality, patient dosimetry, imaging protocol development, and radiation safety. As an educator, he participates in teaching courses for both the VUSM Doctorate of Medical Physics program and the Radiology Residency training program.

Dr. Lewis earned his Masters in Medical Physics (2006) and PhD in Physics (2013) from Vanderbilt University. His past research interests were in x-ray phase contrast and small-angle x-ray scattering imaging. Post graduation, he served as a Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer for Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, LA (2013-2016) before returning to VUMC.

Prior to entering the Medical Physics field, Dr. Lewis served on active-duty as a U.S. Navy Submarine Officer. He was recalled to active-duty to serve in Iraq (2010-2011); he retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2017.

Nam Le, MD, is a graduate of earned the University of California, Berkley with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Prior to earning his medical degree from Meharry Medical College, Dr. Le worked as an engineer for 10 years. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and a fellowship in Neuroradiology from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Le joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2013 and was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences in 2014. He is member of the American Society of Emergency Radiology, American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiologic Society of North America and Tennessee Radiologic Society.

William Laxton, MD, is a graduate of and earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Tennessee – Methodist and a fellowship in Cross-Sectional Body Imaging at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Dr. Laxton joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2015 and appointed to Assistant Professor in 2016. On July 1, 2024, Dr. Laxton was promoted to Associate Professor.

Dr. Laxton is a member of American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology and the Tennessee Radiological Society.
