Vanderbilt Radiology to Welcome Cooke in Body Imaging Section

The Department of Radiology is excited to announce that Erin Cooke, MD, will join faculty as an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences in the Body Imaging section, effective Sept. 1, 2020.  Dr. Cooke will come to Vanderbilt from Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC), where she has served as a staff radiologist specializing in Body Imaging, Neuroradiology and Musculoskeletal Imaging since 2014.

Morgan, Peterson Elected to AIMBE College of Fellows

Victoria Morgan, PhD, and Todd Peterson, PhD, Department of Radiology faculty in the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS), have been elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows.

Department Announces 2020 NRMP Match Results

Today, the Department of Radiology is excited to announce the results of the 2020 National Resident Match Program (NRMP) Match. Both the Diagnostic Radiology (DR) and Integrated Interventional Radiology (IR) Residency programs filled, matching a total of nine residents. 

Smith Promoted to Professor of Radiology

Seth Smith, PhD, Associate Director of the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS), has been promoted to Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. 

Spalluto Awarded VICC Caring Hearts Fund Grant

Lucy Spalluto, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Radiology, was recently awarded a $50,000 grant through the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) Donna and Frank Delfino Caring Hearts Fund for her study, “Breast cancer Risk Assessment: achieVing Equity in Breast cancer outcomes in the public health setting (BRAVE).” 

Langerman Appointed Secondary Radiology Faculty

Alexander Langerman, MD, Associate Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, was recently appointed secondary faculty in the Department of Radiology. He also currently serves as the Director of Vanderbilt’s Surgical Ethics Program, and has faculty positions in the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering (VISE) and the Vanderbilt Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society. 

Radiology Announces Chief Residents for Class of 2021

The Department of Radiology this week announced third-year diagnostic radiology (DR) residents Ryan Adams, MD, and Fadi Azer, MD, as chief residents for the DR class of 2021.  Elected to the role by their fellow residents, Drs. Adams and Azer will assume their duties as chief residents in June following the completion of their American Board of Radiology Core Exam.  

Department Hosts Annual Radiology Awards and Special Recognition Ceremony

The Department of Radiology yesterday hosted its Annual Radiology Awards and Special Recognition Ceremony highlighting the contributions of colleagues who went above and beyond in 2019.   Rich Pierce, MBA, Chief Finance and Administration Officer for the Department of Radiology, kicked off the ceremony by welcoming faculty, staff and trainees, and briefly sharing department highlights from last year. 

Sandler Awarded Advanced Practice Ambassador Award

Kim Sandler, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology, was awarded Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Advanced Practice Ambassador Award at the kickoff of the 2020 Advanced Practice Grand Rounds earlier this week.
