Nicole Mullen Becomes APP Team Leader

Nicole Daley Mullen, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, will be taking on a new role as Advanced Practice Providers Team Leader, effective September 1. A graduate of Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Mullen started her nursing career at VUMC's Nurse Residency Program as an ICU nurse. She then worked as a sedation nurse in Interventional Radiology while earning her Doctorate Degree in nursing at Belmont University. She joined the Department of Radiology as a Nurse Practitioner for CT/Ultrasound procedures in 2020.

Jennifer Baker Becomes Director of APP Education and Research

Jennifer Baker, MSN, APRN-BC, will be taking on a new role as Director of APP Education and Research, effective September 1. A graduate from St. Paul College, Philippines, Baker was an RN for 11 years before earning her Master's Degree in Nursing at UCLA in 2000. She joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in 2006 serving as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine Senior Care Services. She joined the Department of Radiology as Nurse Practitioner for Interventional Oncology in 2013 and was appointed Advanced Practice Nurse Team Leader in 2017.

Residency Programs Hosting Virtual Open House & Interactive Info Session

The Department of Radiology is happy to announce that it will be a hosting an interactive information session for our residency programs. Both Diagnostic Radiology and Integrated Interventional Radiology will be represented at the open house. The virtual Zoom event will take place on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 7:30PM CT. *Information on an additional session on a later date will be coming soon.*

Shelby Frantz Authors Essay for American Board of Radiology Newsletter

Shelby Frantz, MD, has authored a piece for the August 2022 edition of the American Board of Radiology newsletter, "The Beam," titled, "There’s Value in Attending Annual Conferences." In the essay—included in the "Focus on IR/DR" section—Dr. Frantz explains that her passion for conferences began during medical school and how the ritual has become an integral part of her experience in the world of radiology.

Erin Cooke Co-Authors Article in 'Academic Radiology' on Arts & Radiology Education

Through her role as Director of Arts at Vanderbilt Radiology, Erin Cooke, MD, has connected with a number of radiologists nationally who are also interested in supporting the arts in radiology and medical education. Omer Awan, MD, MPH, CIIP, Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Maryland, shares Dr. Cooke's passion.

Clinical Informatics Fellow Julie Bauml Joins Radiology

This July, Julie Bauml, MD, embarked on a two-year clinical informatics fellowship in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Fortunately, Dr. Bauml will also be working part-time with the Department of Radiology in breast and body imaging.

Jenny Weaver Joins as Associate Professor

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Jennifer S. Weaver, MD, as an Associate Professor of Clinical, Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Weaver comes to Nashville by way of Albuquerque's University of New Mexico. Dr. Weaver attended medical school at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and completed her Diagnostic Radiology Residency and Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
