The following article originally appeared in the Jan. 11, 2018, edition of the VUMC Reporter.    Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) Lung Screening Program for patients at high risk for cancer recently reached a milestone, enrolling more than 700 patients and performing more than 1,000 CT screening examinations.

Last year, faculty, staff and trainees in the Department of Radiology participated in various department-sponsored community service opportunities where they donated time, money and goods to local and national organizations in need.

Arthur Fleischer, M.D., Professor of Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Medical Director of Ultrasound Imaging at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), published his eighth edition of “Fleischer’s Sonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology: Textbook and Teaching Cases” this month.

Kim Sandler, M.D., Assistant Professor of Radiology and co-director of the Vanderbilt Lung Screening Program (LSP), was recently awarded a grant by the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Department of Medicine for a pilot of their Cancer Early Detection and Prevention (CEDP) Initiative.

Department of Radiology Director Sarah Moore, MBA, CNMT, RT(CT), was awarded the distinguished Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Five Pillar Leader Award at last week’s Leadership Assembly.
