Adobe Creative Suite 6 Activation

Adobe has introduced new installation requirements for Creative Suite 6 (CS6). 1.Customers must log in with an Adobe ID and activate their software within seven days of first launching CS6. Otherwise, the software will stop working. 2.If you do not have an Adobe ID, you can create one at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership/index.cfm. 3.If you do not have access to the Internet, click I do not have access to the Internet during the installation process.

Qoppa PDF Studio Standard and Professional Available

The Vanderbilt community can save over 60% off the cost of Adobe Acrobat by purchasing PDF Studio instead. PDF Studio Standard and Professional are available through the Vanderbilt Software Store (http://vanderbilt.onthehub.com). · Departments can buy licenses for use on Vanderbilt owned computers by placing their orders under the Departments/More Software tab and paying with a cost center. - Standard: $17.09 - Professional: $24.49

Apple Volume License Program

Vanderbilt departments can buy iOS apps and books in volume and distribute them to students, faculty, administrators, and employees through Apple’s Volume Purchase Program (VPP). For details, see Apple's online VPP presentation at https://edseminars.apple.com/event/B657d-79ghC. To participate in VPP, complete the Apple VPP Program Facilitator Request form posted at http://softwarestore.vanderbilt.edu under Service Requests.

Adobe Creative Suite 6

Adobe announced the release of Creative Suite 6 (CS6) on Monday and expects to begin shipping the new version within a few weeks. Departments that purchase CS5.5 products through the Software Store on or after April 23, 2012 will receive a free upgrade to the corresponding CS6 product.

Making Every Penny Dance!

The Vanderbilt Software Store has negotiated a contract with Qoppa Software for selling PDF Studio to the Vanderbilt community. You can use PDF Studio to edit PDFs on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Under the new contract, Qoppa Software will provide Vanderbilt with access to PDF Studio Pro for $22.99 per license (i.e. for 63% less than the cost of Adobe Acrobat Professional). If all departments convert to PDF Studio, Vanderbilt can expect to save over $60,000 per year.

JMP Academic Suite Available through the Software Store

The Software Store has negotiated a new JMP contract with SAS Institute. Our old contract provided unlimited access to JMP for Windows and Mac for teaching and research use on Vanderbilt owned desktops and systems owned by faculty and students. Under the new contract, we have unlimited access to JMP Academic Suite. JMP Academic Suite includes: •JMP (for Windows and Mac) •JMP Pro (for Windows and Mac) •SAS Simulation Studio for JMP (for Windows) The Vanderbilt community can buy JMP Academic Suite through the Software Store for $43.50/desktop.

Oracle Security Alert

Oracle has sent the following security alert. The alert affects Oracle Database (which we sell through the Software Store): Security Alert: Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2011-5035 that was originally released on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 has been updated to announce additional products that are impacted by this vulnerability through their use of affected components. Oracle strongly recommends applying Security Alert fixes as soon as possible. The Security Alert Advisory is the starting point for relevant information.

Microsoft Changes Student Select

The Microsoft Student Select program offers discounted pricing to Vanderbilt employees and students for personal use copies of Microsoft software. Microsoft Launches New DreamSpark Program

Microsoft has changed its DreamSpark Program. The original program provided college students with free access to Microsoft development and design products. The new program is subscription based. Institutions can buy a one or three-year subscription to DreamSpark or DreamSpark Premium. DreamSpark Premium replaces the MSDN-Academic Alliance program.
