VUMC Radiology is proud to welcome Geming Li, MD, MS, to our department as he joins the Nuclear Medicine section as an Associate Professor! Dr. Li comes to Nashville from Shreveport, Louisiana, where he served as the Director of the PET/CT Imaging Center for the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Assistant Professor with the Department of Radiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. 

For the second consecutive year, Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been designated as a Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. It remains the only center in Tennessee with the prestigious accolade. The designation affirms that VUMC has been found to have the training, personnel, equipment and experience needed to manage patients requiring radiopharmaceutical therapy.

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is happy to share that Jennifer Williams, MD, Associate Professor and Section Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging, has been named the Assistant Medical Director of Vanderbilt Imaging Services (VIS). VIS facilities provide outpatient imaging services at various locations in Nashville, TN (Hillsboro, Midtown, One Hundred Oaks) and Franklin, TN (Cool Springs). In her new role, Dr. Williams will work alongside Morgan Anderson, MD, Associate Professor and Medical Director of VIS. 

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is proud to share that Associate Professor Jessica Leschied, MD, FRCPC, FAAP, has joined the department’s Diagnostic Radiology (DR) residency program’s leadership team as Assistant Program Director (APD). “Dr. Leschied has played an invaluable role in education over the last year,” says Daniel Brown, MD, FSIR, Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor and Chair of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. “Becoming an APD for the DR residency is a natural next step for her.”

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is proud to share that Simone Montoya, MD, has joined the department’s Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency (IR) program’s leadership team as Assistant Program Director (APD), effective October 1. Dr. Montoya, a highly experienced neuroradiologist, joined VUMC Radiology faculty this August.

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is happy to announce that Associate Professor Kate Frederick-Dyer, MD, MRMD, has been named Magnetic Resonance Medical Director. Dr. Frederick-Dyer is an MRMD certified physician and will use her training to ensure the safety of our patients, faculty and staff.“I am proud to serve the department as MRMD and help promote MRI safety across our hospital system,” says Dr. Frederick-Dyer. 

Todd Peterson, PhD, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has received an S10 Shared Instrumentation Grant from the National Institutes of Health for $609,250, funding his project, “Automated Multi-run Carbon-11 Radiosynthesis System.”
