Dr. Gurjeet Birdee is a board-certified internal medicine and pediatrics physician, yoga therapist, and health services research with formal training in clinical effectiveness research acquired in Fellowship in the Division for Research and Education in Complementary & Integrative Medical Therapies at Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on the clinical effectiveness and mechanisms of integrative therapies for chronic disease management and wellness. Dr. Birdee continues to examine the clinical effectiveness of mind-body therapies including yoga and yoga-based slow breathing for health conditions. His work explores mechanisms of mind-body practices including the effect of breathing on physiologic and psychologic stress. More broadly, Dr. Birdee's work is examining the effect of integrative treatments on patient-reported outcomes for chronic disease including chronic pain and anxiety.
