Bio:
Dr. Susanna Sutherland, PhD HSP, received her PhD in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University and completed a Women's Mental Health post-doctoral fellowship at Atrius Health in Boston, MA. She is an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and serves as a clinical and health psychologist at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, collaborating across their interdisciplinary team.

Dr. Sutherland specializes in treating the mood and anxiety disorders that co-occur with chronic health conditions, with a particular focus on physical conditions that occur more commonly in women. She particularly enjoys working with patients around times of reproductive transition (e.g. pregnancy, the postpartum period, and menopause), but finds meaning in supporting patients of all genders as they navigate the challenges associated with health conditions. She has extensive training in cognitive-behavioral interventions and enjoys helping patients use evidence-based tools to start feeling better.

Personal Statement & Approach:
I enjoy multidisciplinary collaboration across Osher and the Medical Center in the treatment of mental and physical health conditions. I trained in both clinical and health psychology settings and prefer a person-centered approach to employing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). After initially training in clinical psychology for children, I realized a passion for working with parents and transitioned to adult-focused care, with specialization in maternal mental health. I also enjoy bringing an integrative approach to treating physical and medical conditions, particularly those associated with pelvic and reproductive health across genders.
