Later that year he accepted a job with Vanderbilt's Psychiatric Hospital to become a member of their inpatient social work team engaging with patients in individual and group therapy. Personal Statement & Approach:
As a Social Worker, we are trained to integrate a systems approach to all of our work - meaning we cannot look at just the symptoms someone is experiencing and expect to have the answers, nor can we look at the circumstances that led them to us and think we know who they are. We must look at the entire picture of someone's life to truly understand where we can begin to collaborate together and lead clients to tap into their innate strength to overcome barriers. I am drawn to integrative health because it takes the core principles and theory that drew me to this field and applies it through practice to impact those that the medical system to often does not serve.
